White Water Rafting - Ayung River, Ubud, Bali

Out of all the adrenaline filled activities I've done around the world, White Water Rafting in Bali tops the list.

The whole setting from the time you pick up your oars to going down the 33 rapids, is like something out of Jurassic Park - steep canyons either side that resemble the jungle and stunning scenery as you make your way down. There are a few scenic viewing platforms and stops along the way where you can take it all in. There are a few steep drops but all of us in my group were first timers so I felt completely safe and the company I used (link below) were very professional and safety conscious. It lasted about 90 minutes and is a definite one for the Bucket List!

Paragliding - Mount Babadag, Turkey

Throwing myself off a 2000ft high mountain wasn't the easiest decision but after watching them land all week onto the beach while on holiday in Oludeniz, I had to do it. The decision was made easier by consuming several cocktails the night before and thinking it was a good decision to sign up there and then!

In all honesty, the most daunting part was the 45 minute drive up to the summit in a convoy of minibuses. Trying to pass those minibuses coming down in the other direction on a winding narrow road with steep drops either side was more scary! Once at the top, the view is insane. I was strapped up to a guy and basically told to run off the cliff edge and not stop, the idea that the wind picks up the parachute and off we go. Well, it worked! Once in the air, the 30 minute glide down was so peaceful and the views over the landscape, sea and blue lagoon were amazing. Thankfully for me, my landing was much more graceful than others I saw!

Diving with Great White Sharks - Gansbaai, South Africa

About 2 hours south west of Cape Town is Gansbaai and Seal Island where there is a great opportunity to cage dive with Great White Sharks. Firstly, I was sea sick before we even got to the sharks! The sea was choppy but the smell of dead fish that they 'chum' the water with to attract the sharks took me over the edge. Having said that, when we stopped and waited for them to appear, I was fine, especially when I saw about 6 of them appear, fins first of course!

This really was mind over matter for me. I got my gear on and went into the iron cage with 2 others. WOW! Seeing these creatures up close was incredible and not to mention a bit scary. I swear one was eyeballing me or just flirting especially when she opened her mouth to show me her pearly whites! It was an incredible experience. The boat had another cage made of clear perspex but this obviously disappears when in water so this was really a test but I chickened out of that one!

Ziplining - Mauritius

I've done Ziplining a few times but no-where as good and exhilarating as in Mauritius. This zip line adventure is in the beautiful 'Riviere des Galets' area in SW Mauritius with banks of forests, waterfalls and banana plantations.

There are about 6-8 zip lines in total, the shortest being 60 metres and the longest being over 250 metres with a varying altitude high above the valley below. The scenery is stunning below as you whizz on past at pretty high speeds! There is also a lovely break half way around for lunch by natural clear water pool where, guess what, you can do another mini zip line into the pond below or just jump off from the rocks above.

Halloween Horror Nights - Orlando, Florida

Not a conventional one for the list, but one that really will get the adrenaline flowing. 2017 will be there 27th year that Universal Studios in Orlando has run this event on select nights throughout September until Halloween. They basically turn the theme park into an authentic horror movie set with shows, sets, scare zones, mazes and actors that will scare the living daylights out of you. And being Universal, they do this very well!!

These events are very popular, not only with the Americans but with people from all over the world. I've been twice! The queues can be long so a huge tip is to arrive early, do the most popular zones first and purchase the fast track passes. Although more pricey, it will be so worth your while. If you like to be scared, then this is the event for you!
